Mechanism

Acetylated and C-terminally amidated derivative of Selank, a synthetic heptapeptide based on the endogenous immunomodulatory tetrapeptide tuftsin (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro stabilizing tail. The N-terminal acetyl and C-terminal amide groups are intended to increase resistance to peptidases and improve stability versus unmodified Selank. Proposed anxiolytic mechanisms include modulation of GABAergic and serotonergic signaling and altered expression of BDNF and inflammatory cytokines. It is not FDA-approved; Selank is registered as an anxiolytic only in Russia, and the acetyl-amidate variant is a grey-market research compound without controlled human efficacy data.
