N-Acetyl Semax Amidate
aka NA Semax Amidate · N-Acetyl Semax · Acetyl Semax Amidate
Mechanism
Acetylated and C-terminally amidated derivative of Semax, itself a synthetic analog of the ACTH(4-7) fragment (Met-Glu-His-Phe) extended with a Pro-Gly-Pro tail. The N-terminal acetyl and C-terminal amide groups are intended to slow enzymatic degradation and improve metabolic stability versus unmodified Semax. Proposed mechanisms include modulation of brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and its receptor TrkB, plus effects on the dopaminergic and serotonergic systems. It is not FDA-approved; Semax is registered as a nootropic/neuroprotective drug only in Russia and Ukraine, and the acetyl-amidate variant is a grey-market research compound with no controlled human efficacy data.
Studied uses
- cognitive enhancement and focus (research only)
- neuroprotection (animal and limited Russian clinical data on parent Semax)
- stress and attention modulation (research only)
Identification
| CAS number | 2920938-90-3 |
|---|---|
| Molecular formula | C39H54N10O10S |
| Sequence | Ac-MEHFPGP-NH2 |
| Typical dose | Vendor-reported intranasal use commonly 300-600 mcg/day; no validated human dosing for the acetyl-amidate variant |
| Half-life | Not well characterized for the amidated variant; modifications are intended to extend the very short (minutes-scale) half-life of unmodified Semax |
Safety
Not FDA-approved for human use; sold as a research chemical only. Human safety data specific to the acetyl-amidate derivative are lacking. Not currently a WADA-named substance, but its regulatory and purity status is unverified outside of registered Semax products.
