Ovagen
aka EDL · Glu-Asp-Leu
Mechanism
Ovagen is a synthetic tripeptide (Glu-Asp-Leu, EDL) short-peptide bioregulator developed by Vladimir Khavinson and colleagues at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation and Gerontology, marketed as a liver/gastrointestinal bioregulator. The Khavinson group reports it modulates gene expression in hepatocytes and GI mucosal epithelium via direct peptide-DNA interaction, with proposed effects on protein synthesis and hepatocellular repair. Evidence is limited to single-group preclinical and small clinical work; it is not FDA-approved and lacks independent Western validation. Reported CAS numbers conflict across sources, so no CAS Registry Number is asserted here.
Studied uses
- liver and hepatocyte gene-regulation research (research only)
- gastrointestinal mucosa and liver-gut axis models (preclinical)
- hepatic aging and cytoprotection studies (single-group research)
Identification
| Molecular formula | C15H25N3O8 |
|---|---|
| Sequence | EDL |
| Typical dose | No established clinical dosing; vendor research protocols commonly cite 1-2 mg/day subcutaneous or sublingual |
| Half-life | Not characterized in peer-reviewed pharmacokinetic literature; short-peptide bioregulators are presumed to clear rapidly (minutes) |
Safety
Not FDA-approved for human therapeutic use. A Russian/Khavinson research peptide with little independent Western safety or efficacy data; sold grey-market for research use only. Not evaluated by WADA.
